COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Northwestern fencing team wrapped up another impressive outing this weekend, defeating eight of nine opponents at the Elite Invitational hosted by Ohio State.
Emine Yücel paced the 'Cats with 12 wins in her first duals meet of the season. Pauline Hamilton, who posted top-two finishes in both of NU's two individual events to start the year, added eight wins of her own.
"The team had a fantastic showing this weekend," said head coach Zach Moss. "This was a whole team effort and shows our team's potential. I'm excited to see us build off this weekend when we return to competition in January."
In total, eleven Wildcats earned their first collegiate wins of the campaign, including Sarah Filby, Yvonne Chart, Maddy Curzon, and Alexis Browne. First-year Julia Falinska earned her first official collegiate wins, finishing with a 11-6 record overall. Five Wildcats finished the event undefeated, including a 3-0 record from first-year Jerrica Liao.
