Sabre ‘Cats Take Bronze At April NAC

Wang, Hild lead Northwestern on individual front
RICHMOND, Va. (April 28, 2026) – In a weekend highlighted by a third-place showing from its sabre squad, No. 6 Northwestern fencing recorded multiple impressive finishes at USA Fencing's April North American Cup (NAC) in Richmond, Va.
Seeded fourth in the Division I Team Women's Sabre, the team of Adele Bois, Nisha Hild, Amy Lu, and Megumi Oishi opened action with a razor-thin 45-43 win over SoCal Fencing Academy to advance to the semifinals. After dropping a 45-34 decision to top-seeded Juniors & Jr., the 'Cats responded with a 45-41 triumph against No. 3 seed Turkey's Missing of the Midwest Fencing Club to secure a podium finish.
On the individual front, Hild led the way for Northwestern in the Division I Women's Sabre. Following a sparkling 5-0 showing in pool action, Hild, a native of Holliston, Mass., added a pair of wins in direct elimination en route to securing a 17th-place finish.
Karen Wang tallied the top individual showing by a Wildcat in the Division I Women's Epee. Out of Houston, Texas, Wang notched four pool victories before a run of three wins in the tableau to finish 12th overall. She posted a pair of upset wins, highlighted by a 14-13 decision over No. 13 Zoe Kim in the Round of 64.
Wang also featured alongside Natasha Lee and Angelica Xiong in the Division I Team Women's Epee, where the trio posted a 37-28 win in its first matchup on the way to a sixth-place effort.
