EVANSTON, Ill. -- Coming off a sweep of Purdue to celebrate Senior Weekend at Sharon J. Drysdale Field, Northwestern will look to put a coda on its current five-game homestand when it welcomes Notre Dame to Evanston at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The game will be broadcast live on BTN and WNUR 89.3 FM. It's also dollar dog day once again with $1 hot dogs available until the fourth inning, and one lucky NU student will win a pair of Beats in-ear headphones.

The Wildcats had a strong week at The J last week, beginning with an 8-0 (6) run-rule victory over DePaul. NU then took three games from Purdue including another run-rule shortened victory in the Friday opener.

Senior Krista Williams celebrated her four-game "Senior Week" at Sharon J. Drysdale Field by collecting multiple hits in every game, batting .600 (9-for-15).

Sophomore Kaley Winegarner also played a major role in last week's success, throwing 14.0 scoreless innings and going 2-0 with a save. She tossed three-hit shutouts against both DePaul and Purdue, while chucking a clean inning of relief for a save in Friday's opener with the Boilermakers.

Northwestern and Notre Dame have met sporadically over the last decade, with the home team winning each meeting since a 12-0 (5) run-rule road win for the Wildcats in South Bend in 2007. Notre Dame most recently visited Evanston in 2013, when Northwestern won 11-3 (5).

NU and ND last played twice in 2015 in South Bend at the end of a season where the Wildcats' pitching staff was being felled by injury like the clear-cutting of trees in a rain forest. The then-No. 25 ranked Irish took a 3-2 decision over the Wildcats in a regular-season matchup before Northwestern earned an NCAA Tournament berth at the South Bend Regional hosted by Notre Dame, the No. 16 overall seed. NU fell, 5-4, in its opening round game against Kentucky before ND eliminated NU in the event.

NORTHWESTERN HOSTS NOTRE DAME TUESDAY, APRIL 25, LIVE ON BTN
Senior Alcy Bush, Anna Petersen and Krista Williams were honored during the 11th annual Purple Auction Saturday and on Senior Day Sunday, but in a scheduling and re-scheduling quirk, their Sharon J. Drysdale Field careers are long from over. In addition to Tuesday's game against Notre Dame, the trio and their teammates will play two more games in Evanston May 3 against Illinois. The doubleheader was rescheduled from April 5 after inclement weather wiped out the original twinbill.
