BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Northwestern picked up its second Big Ten win in as many tries over the weekend with a 4-2 victory at Indiana on Sunday. The No. 20 Wildcats erased a 2-1 deficit to come back and defeat the 35th-ranked Hoosiers on the road.
Chicago's Big Ten Team improved to 14-6 (2-1) with the win.
The 'Cats got things rolling in doubles with wins at Nos. 1 and 3. Dominik Starý and Strong Kirchheimer, the nation's No. 55 ranked duo, earned a 6-3 victory at the top spot and were followed by Michael Lorenzini and Chris Ephron, who won 6-2 at No. 3 to give the Wildcats the opening point of the match.
Indiana then picked up wins at No. 6 and No. 3 singles to take a 2-1 advantage. That would be all the Hoosiers would get as the Wildcats rattled off three quick points from there to grab the win.
No. 53 Konrad Zieba got the comeback started with a 6-1, 7-5 straight sets victory at No. 2 over Keivon Tabrizi to tie the team score at two. He was followed by No. 41 Strong Kirchheimer, who took down No. 121 Antonio Cembellin at No. 1, 6-4, 6-3.
Ben Vandixhorn finished things off with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 victory at No. 4.
Jason Seidman led 3-2 in the third set at No. 5 in the only match that went unfinished.
Northwestern continues conference play next weekend with road trips to Wisconsin and Minnesota.
