EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern looks to match the school record for victories in a season Saturday when it hosts Rutgers at a sold-out Welsh-Ryan Arena. Tip time is set for 5 p.m.

The Wildcats have won 20 games in a season three times, including a school-record 20 in the regular season a year ago. Including postseason victories, NU also won 20 games in 2009-10 and again in 2010-11.

Northwestern is coming off a 74-64 home loss to No. 23/24 Maryland on Wednesday. Freshman Isiah Brown led the Wildcats with a career-high 19 points off the bench while Vic Law contributed 12 points and a game-high 8 rebounds.

Northwestern set a school record and matched a Big Ten record for blocked shots in a conference game when it swatted 15 shots in its first meeting with Rutgers Jan. 12 in Piscataway. Sophomore center Dererk Pardon recorded 8 blocks, the second most ever by a Wildcat in a game (Jim Pitts, 10 vs. Purdue; Jan. 8, 1966). Vic Law scored 19 of his game-high 23 points in the second half to lead Northwestern to the 69-60 win.

The Wildcats' last home meeting with Rutgers saw NU post a 98-59 win Feb. 27 of last season. The 39-point margin of victory was Northwestern's largest in a Big Ten game since 1944 and the team's 33 assists set a school single-game record. The 'Cats also hit 17 3-pointers in the game, their most ever in a Big Ten contest.

Scouting Rutgers
The Scarlet Knights (13-14, 2-12) dropped a 74-55 decision at No. 16 Purdue on Tuesday. Nigel Johnson paced Rutgers with 23 points. Corey Sanders leads the team with an average of 12.9 points per game while Deshawn Freeman contributes 11.3 points and a team-best 8.1 rebounds per contest. Rutgers ranks fourth in the Big Ten with a .404 opponents field goal percentage and first with an average of 14.9 offensive rebounds per game.
