EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern continues its challenging nonconference slate Friday when travels to No. 17/17 Oklahoma. Tip time is set for 6 p.m. at Lloyd Noble Center.

The Wildcats enter the contest with a 9-4 season mark. Three of the team's losses have come against squads that are ranked in this week's Associated Press poll (Purdue, Texas Tech, Creighton).

NU is coming off an 85-48 home win over Lewis on Tuesday with Bryant McIntosh leading the way with 24 points and 7 assists. McIntosh hit a career-best six 3-pointers in the contest while Gavin Skelly went 5-for-5 from the field en route to scoring a season-high 15 points.

Friday's matchup is a contrast of styles as Oklahoma leads the NCAA with an average of 94.2 points per game while Northwestern is 30th in scoring defense at 63.5 points per game (54.1 ppg over the last eight contests).

Two of the nation's top point guards are squaring off in McIntosh and Oklahoma's Trae Young. McIntosh is fourth among all active players with 628 career assists and has scored 1,515 career points while Young is the nation's leader this season in points per game (28.5) and assists per game (10.2).

Scottie Lindsey needs 10 points to reach 1,000 for his career which would make him the 35th player in Northwestern history to reach the milestone.

The Wildcats have hit at least 11 3-pointers in each of their last four games. NU ranks third in the Big Ten with an average of 8.8 3-point makes per contest.

Northwestern and Oklahoma are meeting for the first time. The Wildcats' most recent game in the state of Oklahoma was a 68-59 loss at Tulsa in the first round of the NIT March 18, 2009.

Scouting Oklahoma
The Sooners (9-1) have ridden the play of freshman guard Trae Young to their hot start. Young leads the nation with averages of both 28.5 points per game and 10.2 assists per game and is coming off a 26-point, 22-assist performance in OU's 105-68 win over Northwestern State on Tuesday. The 22 assists tied a single-game NCAA Division I record. Oklahoma leads the nation with an average of 94.2 points per contest.
