
Wildcats to Start Dual Season Against Old Dominion, Gardner-Webb

EVANSTON, Ill. — Fresh off placing five at the Michigan State Open, Northwestern wrestling heads to Norfolk, Virginia, to battle against Old Dominion and Gardner-Webb on Sunday.
NU will wrestle GWU at 10:30 a.m. CT and then ODU at 12 p.m. CT.
The Wildcats have matched-up with Gardner-Webb three times in program history, winning all three. NU most recently secured a 29-7 victory over GWU in 2004. This will be the first-ever matchup between Northwestern and Old Dominion, where head coach Matt Storniolo spent two seasons as a volunteer assistant coach.
Redshirt first-year #9 Ryan Deakin and redshirt junior #14 Conan Jennings both took second-place finishes at the Michigan State Open (Nov. 5), while redshirt senior #17 Mitch Sliga finished in fourth place, redshirt junior Johnny Sebastian finished in fifth, and redshirt sophomore Zack Chakonis finished in sxith.
Old Dominion finished second in the Hokie Open (Nov. 5), while Gardner-Webb dropped their first dual match of the season to Eastern Michigan, 22-11.
This double-dual action will be Northwestern's only dual competition before hosting Maryland at home, Dec. 2.
