Captured his second-straight Big Ten Championship while securing his third-straight All-American accolades at 157 pounds, putting him in rare company as one of just four Wildcat wrestlers ever to accomplish both feats ... Made his first appearance of the season vs. Wisconsin and earned a 21-4 tech fall vs. Garrett Model (2/14) ... Earned a 12-0 major decision while accumulating over three minutes of riding time vs. #6 Brayton Lee in a dual at Minnesota (2/21) ... Defended his Big Ten crown, winning his three matches by a combined 28 to 1 margin–including an 8-0 major decision over Elijah Cleary (Ohio State), a 14-1 major decision over #7 Kendall Coleman (Purdue) and a 6-0 decision over #8 Kaleb Young ... At the 2021 NCAA Championships, Deakin secured the highest national finish of his career with a third place showing and was one of three Wildcat wrestlers to be named an All-American on the program’s way to a Top-Ten national finish.

Put together one of the most dominant single seasons in Northwestern history, going undefeated at 157 lbs with a perfect 21-0 record while finishing the season as the consensus No. 1 ranked wrestler heading into the 2020 NCAA Championships ... Earned bonus points in 13 of his 21 victories, securing eight major decisions and five falls while posting 55 team points in just 13 duals ... Picked up a commanding victory in his first win of the season by major decision over #15 B.C. LaPrade (Virginia Tech) (11/10) ... Earned his first fall of the season against Keaton Geerts (Northern Iowa) (11/17) ... Won four matches at the tournament, including three over ranked wrestlers (3/21-3/23) ... Took fifth place at the Big Ten Championships for a new career-best finish (3/9) ... Won three matches, including two by major decision ... Recorded a major decision over No. 6 seed Steve Bleise in the fifth-place bout (3/9) ... Won four of his first five career bouts … Finished on an eight match winning streak ... Wrestled unattached in his freshman year ... In offseason competition, Deakin won the Junior Freestyle National Title at 66kg ...
