Northwestern Hosts DePaul, Michigan at Martin Stadium this Week

EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern men's soccer will open up a three-match homestand this week when it welcomes DePaul to Martin Stadium on Wednesday, Sept. 21, and Michigan on Sunday, Sept. 25.

LAST TIME OUT
Northwestern (1-5-1, 0-2-1 B1G) traveled to then-No. 3 Indiana over the weekend (Sept. 18) and shut out the Hossiers, playing to a scoreless draw. Redshirt freshman Robbie White made the first start of his career and faced 28 shots, finishing the game with the  
 
BIG TEN HONORS
For his efforts, White was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week. During the contest, he sustained a lower extremity injury and is expected to miss eight to ten weeks.
 
Northwestern has been sound defensively in its three conference matches this season. The Wildcats have only allowed three goals in 292:50 minutes of play (0.92 GAA) and rank second in the league for saves with 17 total.
 
Brandon Medina and Jeffrey Hopson lead Northwestern in points with four apiece. Both seniors have scored a pair of goals on penalty kicks this season.
 
THE OPPONENTS
DePaul (4-2-2) comes into Wednesday's nonconference match after having its five-match unbeaten streaked snapped at Xavier (Sept. 17) last time out. The Blue Demons are led by Simon Megally, who has tallied 10 points on four goals and two assists, while Philipp Koenigstein has chipped in three goals and two assists for DePaul.
 
Quentin Low has appeared in net in eight games this season and boasts a 0.61 goals against average with a pair of shutouts.
 
Michigan (0-4-3, 0-3-0) is still in search of its first win of the 2016 campaign. The Wolverines will play Western Michigan (Sept. 21), before making the trip to Evanston on Sunday for the 1 p.m. CT. U-M has dropped three consecutive Big Ten matches entering the week. 
 
The Wolverines have scored five goals in seven matches this season and rank No. 1 in the Big Ten and No. 18 nationally in shots per contest, averaging 16.14 a match. Francis Atuahena leads the club with a pair of goals.
 
Junior goalkeeper Evan Louro ranks No. 13 in the NCAA in minutes played through seven matches (710 minutes played) and is No. 3 in the Big Ten in saves per game with 3.17.
 
PROMOTIONS/RECOGNITIONS
Wednesday night's game will be Northwestern's Residence Hall Association Night. The Residence Hall Association has partnered with the Northwestern Wildside to give out free t-shirts, pizza and Coke Zero products for early arriving students. Additionally, the RHA and Wildside will be choosing three contestants for an on-field halftime contest, before announcing the student raffle winner.
 
The Wildcats' match with Michigan will be Parents' Day and Alumni Day at Martin Stadium. Parents of current Northwestern men soccer student-athletes will recognize before starting lineups. At halftime, Northwestern soccer alumni, including the 2006 NCAA Tournament Team, will be honored.
 
Matt Eliason, Northwestern's all-time leader in points, will enter the Northwestern's Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday, Sept. 23. Eliason will also be recognized on Sunday as part of Alumni Day at Martin Stadium.
