Dear Northwestern,
When I first came to campus in the fall of 2012, I did not know what was ahead of me. Coming from Norway and not having any experience with college life, I was very unsure of what I should expect. I took a risk, and decided to give Northwestern tennis a shot, because not doing so meant staying home and giving up tennis. Now that I have graduated, I can say that I could not have made a better choice.
Being a Wildcat is truly something special, and to have been able to represent this University on and off the court has been a great privilege.
I have graduated from one of the best universities in the world, and I am now an alumnus of one of the most elite tennis programs in the nation. A very special thank you to my head coach Arvid Swan and associate head coach Chris Klingemann for giving me the opportunity to be a part of the Wildcat community. No one has pushed me and challenged me quite like you both have but that has helped me develop into the person I am today. Both of you have helped me so much both on and off the court. Not only have I become a better player, but I also have grown as a person and learned to hold myself accountable in all aspects of life.
My team became my family here on campus and together we made memories I know I will remember forever. To all my teammates, past and present, I could not have done this without you. You all pushed me when I needed motivation, supported me when I was down and always had my back no matter what. I am incredibly honored and proud to have been a member of this year's record-setting, history-making team and to call all of you my teammates and close friends. Thank you!
Northwestern, I will miss you. Even though I am staying in Chicago, I will miss being a part of this wonderful community. My locker is now empty and my nametag is gone, but I will always remain a Wildcat.
Go Cats!
Sincerely,
Fedor Baev, Men's Tennis
