Four 'Cats Post First Place Finishes on Day Two of TYR

EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern flexed its muscles during Saturday night's TYR Invitational finals, claiming seven overall first-place finishes and six NCAA B cut times.
The Northwestern women lead the field after day two of competition with a score of 597.5, while the men sit in second with 633 points, just 6.5 points off the leaders, Michigan State.
Melissa Postoll kicked off the evening by setting a pool record and an NCAA B cut time of 4:14.71 in the 400 IM, while teammate Ellen Stello took second with an NCAA B cut time of 4:17.86.
Jordan Wilimovsky followed up Postsoll's and Stello's performances by placing first on the men's side of the 400 IM. The #B1GCats senior took first and swam an NCAA B cut time of 3:52.24 to give Northwestern 20 points.
Postoll's night was not done. The #B1GCats senior hit another NCAA B time in the 100 back when she touched the wall in 54.91 to take the top spot in the consolation final.
In the championship final of the 200 free, Charlie Cole posted a 1:37.88 to earn the top spot and claim an NCAA B cut time. The time was his fastest of the season by nearly three seconds.
Just like the 400 IM, Northwestern swept the 100-yard breaststroke on Saturday night with Peyton Greenberg edging out a first-place finish (1:02.93) for the women and Will Hofstadter claiming the top spot (55.38) for the men. Hofstadter's time of 55.38 was an NCAA B cut time.
Northwestern saw a successful night in the relay events as well. In the women's 800 free, the quartet of Krystal Lara, Postoll, Lacey Smith and Valerie Gruest Slowing swam a time of 7:19.64 to finish first. The time was nearly 10 seconds faster than the second place finishers.
In the men's 800, Wilimovsky, Cole, Hofstadter and Jonathan Lieberman came in second to earn 34 points with a time of 6:39.07.
Both the men and the women's 200 medley relay teams took second place to begin the finals session on Saturday night.
On the diving boards, Ben Magliato posted a top score of 321.00 to take first place in the 3-meter event and give Northwestern 20 points. Olivia Rosendahl was the women's top scorer in the 1-meter event, scoring 257.75 points to take second place.
The final day of the TRY Invitational will begin tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. CT with the women's 50 butterfly.
