EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern battles with Texas on Monday evening as part of the Legends Classic at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Tip time is set for 8:30 p.m. Central time.

The contest follows the first semifinal game between Notre Dame and Colorado. The losers of Monday's games square off at 2:30 p.m. CT Tuesday while the winners meet at 5 p.m.

Barclays Center (Brooklyn Nets) is the first of at least three NBA arenas that the Wildcats are playing in this season. NU is facing Dayton Dec. 17 at United Center (Chicago Bulls) and will participate in the Big Ten tournament which starts March 9 at Verizon Center (Washington Wizards).

Northwestern is coming off a buzzer-beating 70-68 defeat at Butler on Wednesday. Vic Law led four Wildcats in double figures with 17 points, including hitting 5 of 6 three-point attempts.

Law, a redshirt sophomore, has been one of the hottest shooters in the nation from beyond the arch so far this season. He hit eight consecutive three-point attempts spanning the team's first three games, including each of his first five tries at Butler. The NCAA record for consecutive three-point makes is 15 set by Northwestern's Todd Leslie in December 1990. Law enters Monday's game 11 of 14 from three-point range (.786).

Northwestern and Texas have split two previous meetings. The 'Cats won 73-71 Dec. 21, 1965 in Memphis, Tennessee, while the Longhorns won 63-59 Dec. 23, 1974 in Austin.

NU and Texas already have one common opponent this season. The Wildcats beat Eastern Washington 86-72 Nov. 14 in Evanston and the Longhorns beat the Eagles 85-52 Nov. 17 in Austin.

Scouting Texas
The Longhorns are off to a 3-0 start, most recently defeating Eastern Washington 89-52 on Thursday. Tevin Mack paced five Texas players in double figures with 19 points off the bench. In his two games, Mack paces the team with an average of 16.5 points per contest. He leads six different Texas players who are averaging at least 10.0 points per game. Opponents are shooting just 33.5 percent from the field against the Longhorns who were picked third in the Big 12 preseason poll.
