Match Notes
EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern goes up against its third straight ranked opponent Wednesday night when No. 18 Michigan comes to town for a 6 p.m. match.
Wednesday is the annual Dig Pink game at Northwestern. Pink and purple pom-poms will be handed out to fans.
All students in attendance will receive free pizza. One lucky student will be chosen to receive a free iPad, courtesy of Norris.
Michigan moved up five spots in the rankings this week after beating then-No. 14 Ohio State on Sunday. Northwestern played the same day, falling to No. 1 Minnesota on the road.
The game will be televised nationally on Big Ten Network at 6 p.m.
SERVE'S UP
The Wildcats have served 75 aces this season as a team led by Symone Abbott's 16. The 'Cats have served five or more aces six times this season, including a season-high nine against George Washington in the season opener. The 'Cats served eight in the very next match against Buffalo. Three Northwestern players (Symone Abbott - 16, Taylor Tashima - 14 and Sofia Lavin - 10) have served double-digit aces this year.
MILESTONE TRACKER
Taylor Tashima moved into sixth-place all-time at Northwestern in assists against Illinois on Oct. 5th. She currently sits at 2,580 for her career, and at her current pace she could pass Andrea Proos (1985-88) for fifth by the end of the season. Kayla Morin enters her senior season as another all-around force for the Wildcats. She is the active leader on the team with 848 digs and also has 949 kills and 191 blocks. She could become only the ninth player in program history to eclipse both 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs.
