NOTRE DAME, Ind. –
Despite numerous first-place finishes and a close score, the men's swimming & diving squad fell to Notre Dame, 166-132.

Early on in the afternoon, Carter Page collected nine points with his strong first-place time of 9:22.93 in the 1,000 free. The men followed up that strong performance with another back-to-back first place swim, as Anthony Marcantonio swam a time of 1:39.52 — nearly seven-tenths of a second better than the next-closest competitor.

In the 100 breast, Thanas Kountroubis took home first-place in the 100 breast and Will Hofstadter swam a third-place time of 57.84. Almog Olshtein picked up a second-place finish in the 50 free soon thereafter.

On the boards, Andrew Cramer took home first place on the 1-meter springboard with his score of 296.50. Reed Dillon, Ben Magliato and Damian Becker finished 3-4-5 in the event. On the 3-meter springboard, Andrew Cramer also finished in first (327.65).

After suffering a first-place drought, the 'Cats collected one in the form of a 4:35.01 swim by Carter Page in the 500 free — his second top distance finish of the day. In the 200 IM, Anthony Marcantonio collected another first-place finish with his 1:50.54 time.

The 'Cats are back in the pool on Jan. 23 for a home dual against Big Ten foe Iowa. The action will begin at 11 a.m.
