NEWBURGH, Ind. -- Northwestern concluded play at the 2015 Big Ten Championships Sunday with a seventh-place finish in the conference at Victoria National Golf Club.

The Wildcats shot a final round 12-over 300 to finish the 72-hole tournament at 33-over 1,185 (303-288-294-300), placing just two shots behind a fifth-place tie between Wisconsin and Ohio State, and four shots in back of a third-place tie between Minnesota and Penn State.

NU started the final round on the back nine, encountering the exceptionally tough five-hole finishing stretch early in the round. It got to the Wildcats for some big numbers, which they were able to chip away at to a degree, but not enough to climb the standings.

"I can't describe how good & difficult holes 14-18 are @GolfVNGC," Director of Golf and Player Development Pat Goss tweeted.

Freshman Charles Wang (Beijing, China/Sarasota Christian School) led Northwestern in the individual standings at his first-career Big Ten Championships, finishing 13th overall at 6-over 294 (72-72-73-77). He made the turn at 3-over 39 Sunday after ending the back nine with a bogey-bogey-double bogey combination. He then was 2-over on the front side to account for his day's scoring. Wang's 13th-place finish is the best of his career.

Junior Josh Jamieson (St. Andrews, Scotland/High School of Dundee) got off to a great start with birdies on each of his first two holes, and still was 2-under through six when the challenging finishing stretch of Victoria got to him for a double bogey at the 208-yard par-3 16th and a bogey at No. 18. After turning at 1-over 37, he made par on every hole of his second nine for a finishing 1-over 73, placing 29th in the Big Ten field at 12-over 300 (74-72-81-73).

Bennett Lavin (Deerfield, Ill./Deerfield) carded nine-straight pars after teeing off to make the turn at even par. He then had the exact opposite scorecard on his second nine, making four bogeys and three birdies to finish the Big Ten Championships with his second-straight 1-over 73, moving up 11 spots in the individual standings to a 39th place 16-over 304 (80-78-73-73).

Dylan Wu (Medford, Ore./St. Mary's School) had a horrific trip through the tough 14-through-18th holes at Victoria National, carding four double bogeys and a bogey to turn with an 8-over 33. He came roaring back on his second nine, quickly making birdie at No. 1, an eagle at the 578-yard par-5 third and another birdie at the seventh to negate two bogeys on the side. His finishing 6-over 78 still resulted in a top-20 finish at his first-career Big Ten Championships, giving him an 18th-place 8-over 296 (77-67-74-78).

Senior Matthew Negri (El Cajon, Calif./Grossmont) made a pair of early bogeys in his final round and then entered the difficult finishing stretch of Victoria National, where he recorded a double bogey at the 548-yard par-5 15th and a bogey at No. 18. He eventually got to 7-over par through 12 holes before carding birdies at Nos. 4 and 8 to get back to a 5-over 77. Negri finished the tournament in 49th place at 20-over 308 (80-77-74-77).
