IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Northwestern junior Jordan Wilimovsky (Malibu, Calif./Malibu) claimed a bronze finish in the 1,650-yard free style in the final day of the 2015 NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships at Iowa's Campus Recreation and Wellness Center on Saturday night.
"It is an honor to me [to represent Northwestern]," said Wilimovsky. "It is great to be able to represent Northwestern anytime, but to be able to do that at NCAAs is incredible."
Wilimovsky, who has made three-consecutive trips to the NCAA Championships, swam a tight race with Georgia's Matias Koski and Michigan's PJ Ransford, but the duo broke away for a one-two finish, respectively. Koski claimed the top time at 14:32.38, while Ransford finished at 14:34.36. Wilimovsky touched at 14:36.64, nearly eight seconds faster than his performance at the NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas, last spring.
"He is a guy that basically walked on to our program three years ago and we have seen him have consistent improvement over the last three years," said head coach Jarod Schroeder. "He is someone that gets better every year and people are taking notice of that now."

In addition to his third-place finish, Wilimovsky picked up his second All-American honor of the 2015 NCAA Championships and the third of his career. On Thursday, the Malibu, California, native placed 15th in the 500-yard free to earn an honorable mention All-American nod. Last season, he was a first-team All-American after a finishing fourth in the mile.
Wilimovsky scored 18 points in his two events, giving Northwestern a 29th place national finish in 2014-15.
The junior will have little rest as he trains for the 2015 Open Water National Championships on April 24 and April 26 in Miromar Lake, Florida.
