EVANSTON, Ill. - The Wildcats will travel to Greensboro, North Carolina, for the Bridgestone Golf Collegiate, beginning Sunday, Oct. 25, at the Grandover Resort. The teams will play 36 holes played Sunday and 18 holes played Monday on the par-72, 7,245-yard East Course. Both days will have an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start with live scoring available for the event at www.golfstatresults.com. Admission to the event is free to the public.
Over the years, the resort has hosted a NCAA Regional, the 2012 Nationwide Tour Open qualifier and the 2011 NCAA Division III National Championships. Among 1500 acres of oak, pine and dogwood covered hills and designed in a European style, the resort makes a remarkable impression rising above the North Carolina foothills.
The 14-team field at the Bridgestone Golf Collegiate is one of the toughest events this fall with 10 teams ranked in the top 100 by Golf Stat, including seven in the top 75. Joining No. 67 UNCG team in the field includes No. 14 Purdue, No. 16 North Carolina, No. 38 Kansas State, No. 64 Northwestern, No. 74 Iowa State, No. 75 VCU, No. 89 Chattanooga, No. 90 Georgia State, No. 95 Virginia Tech, Mercer, South Alabama, Utah and Davidson.
The Wildcats' last trip to the Bridgestone saw then-senior David Lipsky earn medalist honors at 14-under par in 2010.
