Wilimovsky Finishes No. 4 in Nation in Mile

AUSTIN, Texas – Northwestern sophomore Jordan Wilimovsky (Malibu, Calif./Malibu) wrapped up his second consecutive trip to the NCAA Championships with an impressive showing in the 1,650 free.
On the final day of competition at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swim Center in Austin on the campus of the University of Texas, Wilimovsky finished No. 4 in the nation in the mile.The sophomore posted a time of 14:44.36 to finish fourth in the race.
Michigan's Connor Jaeger finished first in the race with a time of 14:29.27. Wilimovsky outswam Aubrun's senior Zane Grothe (14:45.55). Cal's senior Jeremy Bagshaw finished No. 2 (14:39.00) and Florida sophomore Arthur Frayler posted a time of 14:43.08 to just edge out with the Wildcat sophomore for No. 3.
After becoming the first Northwestern swimmer to post a sub-15:00 mile as a freshman last season, Wilimovsky broke his own school record in the mile with a 14:55.25 time during the TYR Invite in Evanston on November 24, 2013. He was able to trim more than 12 seconds off that time during the Big Ten Championships, which earned him a second NCAA bid with an “A” Cut time.
