ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Senior Chase Stephens reached the championship final for the second time during the Big Ten Championships, posting a season best time of 43.41 in the 100 free. It qualified as an NCAA “B” Cut time as Stephens finished at No. 8 to earn a second swim in the scoring finals.

Stephens will swim for points in the evening session and as platform diving continues in the afternoon, freshman Andrew Cramer will look to score points, which would give him a sweep in all three categories after placing in the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard dives.

The 1,650 free also continues in the afternoon as sophomore Jordan Wilimovsky looks to earn points for the 'Cats in the long distance event.

Grant Halsall started this off for the 'Cats finishing No. 14 to advance to Saturday evening's scoring consolation final in the 200 yard backstroke. Halsall posted an NCAA “B” Cut and season best time of 1:45.27 in the race, coming just 0.01 away from tying his career best in the 200 back.

Northwestern freshmen continued their impressive first trip to the Big Ten Championships. Andy Jovanovic finished at No. 23 in the 100 free to earn a second swim in the bonus final Saturday night, posting a time of 44.54. Jonathan Lieberman swam a career best 1:49.83 in the 200 back for the first year swimmer, ranking among NU's top times of the season.

Van Donkersgoed swam a season best time in the 200 breast, posting an NCAA “B” Cut time of 1:58.99, finishing No. 23 to advance to the bonus final.

In the 200 fly, both Andrew Seitz (1:53.28) and Stephen Shull (1:53.86) posted season best times for the 'Cats.

The Big Ten Championships conclude Saturday night at 5:30 p.m. CT. The finals air live on BTN2Go.
