EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern junior Jordan Wilimovsky (Malibu, Calif./Malibu) has been named the Big Ten Swimmer of the Week following his performance at the Wildcats' home TYR Invitational last weekend.

Wilimovsky recorded three first-place finishes at the TYR including two in his signature events: the 1,650 freestyle and the 500 freestyle. Wilimovsky's times in those events were NCAA `B' provisional qualifying times and rank him 16th in the nation in the 500 and fifth in the country in the 1,650.

His win in the 1,650 was so dominant, the second-place swimmer in the race finished more than 25 seconds behind him and also received a `B' cut for his time.

Wilimovsky, a member of the U.S. National Team in the 1,500-meter freestyle and open water events, will have a chance to go even lower in two weeks when Northwestern takes a contingent of 11 to U.S. Nationals.
