NU Wraps Second Day at ITA Midwest Regional

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Northwestern finished its second day of competition at the ITA Midwest Regional on Friday. Five Wildcats advanced to the second round of singles, and three pairs moved on in doubles.
To start the day, senior Alberto Zanotti and sophomore Alp Horoz both won third round, three-set matches in the qualifying draw to earn spots in the main singles bracket. This put the entire nine-man roster in the draw.
In the first round of singles, Konrad Zieba, Logan Staggs, Sam Shropshire, Strong Kirchheimer, and Mihir Kumar all secured wins to move on to the second stage.
In doubles, the duos of Kirchheimer-Staggs, Baev-Shropshire, and Kumar-Pasareanu captured victories in the first round and will play in the second on Saturday.
The second round of singles action begins tomorrow at 8 a.m., followed immediately by the third. Doubles play will start shortly afterwards.
