Northwestern Opens NCAA Championships With Two Swims

INDIANAPOLIS -- Northwestern's two-man contingent at the 2013 NCAA Championships began action Thursday in Indianapolis, competing in one event apiece.
In his first taste of NCAA Championships action, junior Chase Stephens (Madison, Wis./Edgewood) took to the pool in the 50 free Thursday morning, placing 44th overall in a time of 20.34. The event Stephens qualified for the field in, the 100 free, will be held on Saturday.
Freshman Jordan Wilimovsky (Malibu, Calif./Malibu) opened his first-career NCAA Championships in his first collegiate swim at the meet with a solid 4:25.56 in the 500 free. He finished second in his heat and 48th overall among the field.
Wilimovsky's big event comes Saturday when he takes on the mile after breaking a nine-year-old school record in the event at the Big Ten Championships.
