Northwestern Earns NFCA Team, Individual Scholar Honors

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern was named a 2012-13 NFCA Division I All-Academic Team while nine Wildcats student-athletes earned individual Scholar All-America honors from the NFCA, the organization announced today (Oct. 7).
NU's team GPA last season of 3.33 earned the squad its All-Academic Team nod. The nine student-athletes on the roster named Scholar All-America were honored after earning grad point averages of more than 3.50.
Honorees are: Sammy Albanese (Belmont, Calif./Castilleja), Emily Allard (Antioch, Calif./Antioch), Marisa Bast (Orange, Calif./Villa Park), Julia Kuhn (Middletown, N.J./Middletown South), Mari Majam (Pine Valley, Calif./Mountain Empire) Amanda Mehrsheikh (Chesterfield, Mo./Parkway Central), Kristin Scharkey (Yorba Linda, Calif./Esperanza), Paige Tonz (Peoria, Ariz./Centennial) and Lauren Tyndall (Edmond, Okla./Edmond Memorial).

Northwestern recently wrapped up its fall ball portion of the 2013-14 season and has moved into its famous "Phase II" part of the year. The regular season opens Feb. 7-9 at the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Ariz.
