Twelve Wildcats Earn CSCAA Scholar All-America Honors

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Twelve Northwestern swimmers have earned Scholar All-America awards from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) for the 2011-12 season, the organization announced Friday, July 6.
From the women's side, Taylor Reynolds (St. Louis, Mo./Webster Groves) and Jenny Wilson (Bethesda, Md./Sidwell Friends School) were named CSCAA Scholar All-Americans while Meghan Cavanaugh (Anchorage, Alaska/East Anchorage), Lauren Clifford (Pollock Pines, Calif./El Dorado), Jacquie Godbe (Rapid City, S.D./Stevens), Meredith King (Louisville, Ky./duPont Manual), Katie McCullough (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Central), Kathleen Patterson (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) and Becca Soderholm (Madison, Wis./Madison East) all earned honorable mention nods.
For Northwestern's men's team, Jake Grosser (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles), Toni Valcic (Ribnica, Slovenia/Gimnazija Ledina) and Matt Wilcox (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) also were tabbed CSCAA Scholar All-America honorable mention award winners.
Swimmers and divers reach Scholar All-America status by recording a 3.5 GPA or above and also qualifying for their national championship meet. Student-athletes are named honorable mention honorees if they record an NCAA `B' provisional qualifying time but do not gain admittance to the NCAA meet.
