Jake Grosser swam two years at USC before transferring to Northwestern and beginning competition in the winter quarter of 2011 with junior eligibility.
2011-12: Ranked on Northwestern's top times list in three different events ... Was second in the 100 fly and fourth in the 50 free and 100 back ... CSCAA Scholar All-America honorable mention ... Academic All-Big Ten ... Earned a career-best time in the 100 fly at the Big Ten Championships, swimming a 48.57 ... Also competed in the 50 free (36th) and 100 free (60th) at the conference meet ... Swam with NU's 200 free relay and performed butterfly duties on the Wildcats' 200 and 400 medley relays at the Big Ten Championships, earning NCAA `B' provisional qualifying times with each ... That 200 medley relay ranks fourth and the 200 free and 400 medley relays fifth on NU's all-time top times list in their respective events ... Broke pool records with the 200 free and 200 medley relays at the Lewis Pool in a double dual versus Lewis and Carthage College (1/7) ... Won both the 50 free and 100 fly at Northwestern's season-opening dual against Eastern Michigan (10/21) ... Also had dual meet victories in the 100 back against Lewis and Carthage and in the 100 fly at Notre Dame (1/14) ... Had 13 total top-three dual-meet finishes this season ... Made point-scoring finals in five different events at the TYR Invitational, placing third in the 50 fly, seventh in the 100 fly, seventh in the 100 back, 10th in the 50 free and 12th in the 100 free.
2010-11: Became eligible to train and compete for Northwestern during the winter quarter following his graduation and transfer from USC ... Finished the year ranked second on NU's top times list in the 50 free and 100 fly while ranking third in the 100 free ... CSCAA Scholar All-America honorable mention ... Swam a career-best 49.08 during the prelims of the 100 fly at the Big Ten Championships to earn a bonus final berth, eventually finishing 22nd overall ... Also competed in the 50 free (33rd) and 100 free (35th) at the conference meet ... Swam with NU's top 200 free, 400 free, 200 medley and 400 medley relays at the Big Ten Championships, earning NCAA `B' provisional qualifying times with all four ... The 200 medley relay squad was the fifth-fastest in school history ... Took third place in the 50 free with a time of 20.82 at Iowa (01/22) ... Won both the 50 free and 100 free in his first-ever NU dual meet, besting the field against Carthage, Lewis and North Central in a quad dual on Jan. 8 ... Took second in the 50 free against Notre Dame (01/12).
2009-10 (at USC): Did not compete while completing work on his bachelor's degree in political science.
2008-09 (at USC): Was slowed by an injury during the year before leaving the team.
2007-08 (at USC): Consolation finalist in three races at the Pac-10 Championships as a 2008 freshman, finishing 10th in the 100 back (49.45), 14th in the 50 free (20.39) and 16th in the 100 free (45.82) ... At the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials, was 95th in the 50m free (23.59).
High School: A 12-time prep All-American and All-State performer and a 12-time All-Sectional swimmer... Five-time state runner up, including twice each in the 50 and 100 free, and won those events twice each at sectional meets ... As a 2006 senior, swam the third fastest time in state history in the 50 free and as part of the 200 free relay ... At the 2007 U.S. Spring Nationals, he was 36th in the 50m free (24.42), 38th in the 100m free (53.54), 60th in the 100m fly (1:00.34) and 76th in the 200m free (2:01.96) ... Was a 10-time junior national finalist in addition to his senior national and U.S. Open experience ... Earned NCSA All-American (west) honors and was a four-time NCSA All-American meet champion (50 free, 200 and 400 free relays and 200 medley relays) ... Was an eight-time Illinois senior state champion and a six-time sectional champion ... He was also a two-year member of St. Charles East's water polo team, earning All-Sectional first team honors as a senior, when he scored the most goals in the sectional tournament.
