Lauren Clifford competed for two seasons (2008-09 and 2009-10) at Texas A&M before not enrolling in any institution during the 2010-11 academic year. She came to Northwestern prior to the 2011-12 season as a transfer student with junior eligibility.
2011-12: Ranked on Northwestern's top times list in four different events ... Was third in the 400 IM and fifth in the 500 free, 200 back and 200 fly ... CSCAA Scholar All-America honorable mention ... Dropped nearly eight full seconds from her in-season best to finish 14th overall in the 400 IM at the Big Ten Championships with an NCAA `B' provisional qualifying time of 4:16.57 ... That swim placed her fourth on NU's all-time top times list in the 400 IM ... Qualified for the Big Ten bonus final in the 200 fly with a season-best 2:01.78 before placing 24th overall in 2:03.73 ... Also competed in the 500 free (42nd) at the Big Ten meet ... Won the 400 IM in a dual meet versus Wisconsin (11/11) ... Had six total top-three finishes in dual meet races during the regular season ... Qualified for the consolation final of the 200 IM at the eight-team TYR Invitational (11/18), finishing 11th overall ... Won the 500 free bonus final at the TYR (11/18).
High School: High school all-American in the 200 IM and the 100 butterfly ... Qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials in 2008 and again in 2012 ... Swam club with the Sierra Marlins Swim Team for two years ... Also lettered one year in basketball at El Dorado ... High school's valedictorian.
