Northwestern vs. Butler
Welsh-Ryan Arena
Dec. 8, 2012
Northwestern Head Coach Bill Carmody
On Reggie Hearn's overall impact...
"We've had some good walk-ons, I have to say that. Mike Jenkins was a pretty good one. But Reggie by far--I mean he didn't even play at all the first two years. I only threw him in there last year at the beginning of the year because three or four guys went down. I think I must have missed something because he's exceptional. He's a hard worker, a terrific student. I think he's really exceptional"
On Dave Sobolewski's success in driving...
"[Rotnei] Clark got a couple fouls early, so we told him to start penetrating, see if he could finish some things off. He went to the basket and did some nice things...We want him to be more aggressive offensively, because of the problems we're having scoring up front."
On Butler's defense on Jared Swopshire...
"Butler's a good defensive team. But it's not just tonight that the seniors have struggled. It's a continuing kind of thing. Swop against Maryland, and now tonight. He's hitting the boards great, he's doing all that. We're trying to get him from being a role player at Louisville to someone who--he doesn't have to score 20 points--but who can get 10 or 12, be a good rebounder, he's a good defender. He's got to figure out where his shots come from in the offense and we have to help him with that."
