Northwestern Signs Andrew Whalen to National Letter of Intent

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern head coach Pat Goss announced today (Nov. 9) the signing of Andrew Whalen (Ephrata, Wash./Ephrata Senior) to a National Letter of Intent. Whalen will matriculate to Evanston in the fall of 2012.
"I am very excited to have Andrew join our Wildcat Golf program next fall," Goss said. "He is a great fit for Northwestern both athletically and academically. He has a tremendous work ethic and has continually improved during his junior career. I anticipate Andrew will make an immediate impact on our program."
Whalen is the reigning Washington State Golf Association Junior Boys Player of the Year and currently is ranked 31st in the American Junior Golf Association's (AJGA) Class of 2012. He advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2011 U.S. Junior, where he fell to eventual champion Jordan Spieth. He has four top-10 finishes on the AJGA Open circuit in the last two seasons.
