EVANSTON, Ill. -- Senior Jonathan Bowers (Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Watterson) and junior Josh Dupont (Poway, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) have been named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
Bowers' honor is the second of his career, making him sixth Wildcat to earn two All-America Scholar nods and the first since current PGA TOUR professional Chris Wilson in 2006-07. Dupont's award is his first. This is the second-straight year and the fourth time since 2002 that multiple 'Cats have been honored.
To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least two full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70 percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient also must be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
A total of 119 players in Division I were honored in 2010 with the Cleveland Golf/Srixon award. For the complete list, link to GCAA.collegiategolf.com.
