EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern begins its final stretch run leading up to the Big Ten Championships when it returns to the course this Saturday and Sunday, April 10-11, at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate Tournament in Columbus, Ohio.
An event annually attended by the Wildcats, this year's Kepler features 11 teams and is hosted by Ohio State at the par-71, 7,451 yard Scarlet Course. The first and second rounds will be held on Saturday, April 10, beginning with a 7:30 a.m. CT shotgun start, while the final round scheduled for Sunday will have tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. CT.
The 11-team field is comprised of No. 48 Charlotte, Eastern Michigan, Houston, No. 49 Kent State, North Texas, No. 52 Northwestern, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, Wisconsin and Xavier. Rankings are from the most recent Golfstat.com data.
History will be on Northwestern's side this weekend in Columbus. The `Cats have captured four titles at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate, which secures their spot as the tournament's second-winningest team in the event's history. Their most recent victory came last season, where they finished with a 40-over 892 to defeat the other 12 teams in attendance. Several key contributors from last year's Kepler included junior Josh Dupont, who finished second overall, sophomore Eric Chun (6th), senior David Lipsky (11th) and senior Jonathan Bowers (14th).
Northwestern has had a very strong spring season thus far, opening with a victory at the Big Ten Match Play Championship before taking fourth out of 15 teams at the Puerto Rico Classic -- the Wildcats' best-ever finish there -- and fifth out of 16 teams at the highly competitive Barona Collegiate Cup.
After the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate, NU will take a week off prior to the Boilermaker Invitational April 24-25. The Big Ten Championships then take place April 30-May 2 in Minneapolis, Minn.
