Wildcats Dominate Texas Tech, 4-1

LUBBOCK, Texas -- Northwestern defeated Texas Tech in women's soccer action Friday 4-1. With the victory, NU improves to 2-1 on the season.
"Overall, it was good game for us," said head coach Jenny Haigh. "It was really an entire team effort for us, and it was exciting to see so many players be so strong."
The Wildcats jumped out in front early, tallying goals in the 22nd and 23rd minutes of the first half to lead 2-0 at halftime. Senior Tabitha Lowey (Peachtree City, Ga./Mcintosh) recorded the opening goal, while freshman Krystal Patterson (St. Louis, Mo./Shiloh) scored the second -- the first goal of her career -- on an assist from Kelly Sitkowski (Elk Grove Village/James B. Conant).
Northwestern added to the lead in the second half, as freshman Jenny Dunn (Pacific Palisades, Calif./Louisville) scored at the 74:11 mark on an assist from Julie Lipinski (Tinley Park, Ill./Marian Catholic).
Lipinski added the final goal of the evening for NU, a penalty kick at the 85:31 mark.
Texas Tech's lone goal came on a penalty kick with 13 seconds left in the game.
Northwestern will take on another Big XII foe on Sunday when they travel to Baylor for a 1 p.m. start.
