Zimmerman Named to Wales FIFA Women's World Cup Qualifying Roster

EVANSTON, Ill. – Incoming first-year Gwen Zimmerman has been named to Wales' 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup Qualifying roster for its upcoming qualifiers against Czechia and Montenegro.
She is one of 26 players called into the Wales squad ahead of these two matches.
Zimmerman has represented Wales at the youth levels and made her debut with the senior national team, earning the start on the backline in a friendly against Australia on October 25, 2025.
A Palatine, Ill., native, Zimmerman has competed at the club level with Eclipse Select ECNL as a midfielder and defender. She earned 2024-25 ECNL U18/19 Midwest All-Conference Honors. Zimmerman was an all-state selection in her sophomore and junior seasons at Fremd High School. She also won a state title in flag football.
Wales will play Czechia on Tuesday, March 3, in Uherské Hradište. The Welsh squad will then play on home soil, where they will face Montenegro on Saturday, March 7.
