NU To Participate in BCA Invitational

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Gazelle Group is pleased to announce the field for the 2005 Black Coaches Association (BCA) Invitational men's college basketball tournament. The University of Wyoming will host the eight-team tournament on November 13-15, 2005 at Arena-Auditorium in Laramie, Wyo. The other participating teams are Alabama State, Butler, Charlotte, Coppin State, Lehigh, Northwestern, and UNC Wilmington.
The BCA Invitational will include two sessions each day with an afternoon session beginning at 12:00 noon MST followed by an evening session at 6:00 p.m. MST. A total of four games will be played each day, two per session. Each team will play a total of three games throughout the tournament.
Northwestern will actually be making its second appearance in the BCA Invitational under head coach Bill Carmody; the Wildcats also played in the 2001 event in Raleigh, N.C., finishing third with wins against VCU and San Jose State and a loss to East Carolina.
This year, the Wildcats will meet Lehigh in the first round, at 8 p.m. Mountain (9 p.m. Central) on Nov. 13. Following that, NU will meet either Charlotte or Coppin State Nov. 14 at 2 or 6 p.m. Mountain (3 or 7 p.m. Central).
"We are very excited that the University of Wyoming will host the 2005 BCA Invitational," said Floyd Keith, Executive Director of the Black Coaches Association. "Wyoming is an excellent partner in strengthening and enhancing the mission of the Black Coaches Association."
The Black Coaches Association is a nonprofit organization whose primary purpose is to foster the growth and development of minorities at all levels of sport both nationally and internationally. The BCA is committed to creating a positive, enlightened environment and common ground where issues can be examined closely, debated sincerely, and resolved honestly. Throughout the BCA's 15-year history, the organization has been at the forefront of the effort to enhance the employment opportunities and professional development of the minority professional.
