Day Three Results of ITA Midwest Regional Championship

EVANSTON, Ill. - Five Northwestern players competed in the opening rounds of the main draw at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional Championships Saturday, Oct. 23.
Senior Tommy Hanus (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) won his opening round match in the main draw against Tommy Denis of Michigan 6-4, 7-5. Hanus later fell to Patrick Buchanan of Notre Dame 6-4, 6-4.
Sophomore Matt Christian (Troy, Mich./Brother Rice) had a big win against the fifth-seeded Andrew Formanczyk of Michigan State 6-3, 7-6. Christian lost his second-round match to Sheeva Parbhu of Notre Dame 6-2, 6-1.
Sophomore Christian Tempke lost his opening match to Octavian Nicodium of Louisville 6-3, 6-4.
Senior Chuck Perrin (Atlanta, Ga./The Walker School) beat Matt Laramore of Ball State 4-6, 6-2, 7-6. Perrin later fell to the No. 16 seed Willy Gali of Northern Illinois 6-4, 6-3.
After fighting his way to the main draw with three wins in the qualifying rounds, sophomore Willy Lock (Lima, Peru/Markham College) fell to Eric Langenkamp of Notre Dame 6-1, 7-6.
In doubles action, Hanus and Perrin -- seeded 12th -- defeated Fishcer and Marvic of Michigan 9-8. Sophomore Jamie Friedland (Glen Cove, N.Y./St. Stephen's) and senior Justin Hoeveler (Ross, Calif./The Branson School)defeated Dunham and Freer of Valparaiso 8-2.
