EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern University Men's Basketball Head Coach Bill Carmody announced today that Tim Doyle (Merrick, N.Y./St. Dominic) has accepted an offer of admissions from the University and is joining the Wildcat program as a transfer from St. John's University.
Doyle was a freshman for the Red Storm last year, helping them to a 21-13 record and the NIT championship. He must sit out this season, per NCAA rules, but is currently enrolled in summer classes at NU and will have three years of eligibility remaining when he takes the court for the 2004-05 season.
"Tim is a guy we recruited out of high school, and someone that I have liked for a long time," said Carmody. "He is a terrific passer, one of the best I have seen, and does a lot of everything. Beyond that, he plays to win.
"He clearly has leadership potential for our program, even this year as a practice player," continued Carmody. "Tim will make his teammates play harder. We are really excited that he is here."
A biography of Doyle appears below.
