ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Chuck Perrin (Atlanta, Ga./The Walker School) advanced all the way to the final of the second round-consolation bracket, but he lost to Indiana's Ryan Recht 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 to conclude play for the Northwestern men's tennis team at the Big Ten Singles Championship.

"Chuck played well in his final match," said head coach Paul Torricelli. "Unfortunately, it just did not go his way."

Perrin, the only Wildcat to play today, had moved to the second round-consolation bracket after losing his second round match in the main draw on Saturday. From there, the junior won his next three matches to make it to the final.

"Overall, I'm disappointed we did not make it past the quarterfinals," said Torricelli, noting that Christian Tempke (Wentorf, Germany/Gymnasium Lohbrugge) was the only NU player to make it to the quarterfinals. "I would have liked for us to have advanced to at least the semifinals, but at least I did get to see the freshmen in action, and that was an important goal of the weekend."

The three-day tournament was the final competition of the fall season for the Wildcats. NU will return to action Jan. 16, when it heads to Salt Lake City, Utah, to face Weber State and Utah.
