MADISON, Wis. - Northwestern fell to Wisconsin 121-110 Thursday night in Madison in a meet that came down to the final relay.
The Wildcats defeated Indiana last Saturday after winning the meet's final relay, but this time it was the Badgers who celebrated, claiming the clinching first-place points in the 200 free relay.
Freshman Matt Grevers claimed first-place finishes in the 50 and 100 free with times of 20.63 and 44.87 respectively, while diver Mike Oxman won both the 1 and 3-meter diving events.
Fellow freshman Mike Alexandrov had a strong meet, finishing first in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:02.89. He edged out teammate Louis Torres, who finished second with a 2:03.40 finish.
Oxman outscored Wisconsin's Michael Slutskiy 307.35 to 184.80 in the 3-meter event to give the 'Cats nine first-place points.
