EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) - Jitim Young scored a career-high 29 points -- the best scoring night for a Northwestern basketball player since Evan Eschmeyer scored 30 in the 1999 Big Ten Tournament -- and Jason Burke added 13 points with six assists as Northwestern defeated New Hampshire 81-55 Monday night.

The win was NU's 13th in a row at home against a nonconference opponent, the second-longest streak by the Wildcats since they began playing in McGaw Hall/Welsh-Ryan in 1952-53. The longest streak is 16 games, occurring from 1991-94.

New Hampshire took a 5-0 lead, but Northwestern (2-0) answered with a 10-0 run and never trailed again. Young scored five points during the span.

Young was 11-for-14 from the floor and 2-for-2 from 3-point range.

Freshman Ronnie Dennis kept New Hampshire (0-2) within 10 in the first half by scoring 13. He ended with 18. He was 3-for-4 from 3-point range in the first half. Dennis was the only New Hampshire player to break double-figures in scoring.

Aaron Jennings hit a 3-pointer to give Northwestern a 52-34 lead with 14:07 remaining and Burke hit a 3-pointer to cap off a 16-6 run to give Northwestern a 65-41 lead with 9:49 left in the game.

Freshman T.J. Parker converted on a three-point play to make it 77-47 with 6:33 remaining. Parker ended with 11 points and six assists.

Winston Blake scored 11 points and grabbed six rebounds for Northwestern. Jennings had seven blocked shots for Northwestern, the second-best total for blocks in a single game by a Wildcat player (tied with Evan Eschmeyer and Jim Wallace).

Northwestern is back in action Wednesday night, taking on IUPUI at Welsh-Ryan Arena. Tip time is 7 p.m.
