No. 21 Minnesota Defeats Northwestern Volleyball in Three

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Northwestern volleyball team was handed its second loss in as many days, falling to No. 21 Minnesota, 3-0 (30-15, 30-13, 30-21), in Minneapolis Saturday night.
The Wildcats also lost their .500 standing, falling to 8-9 overall and 4-6 in the Big Ten. Minnesota improved to 11-7, 5-5 in conference play.
The Gophers shut NU down while hitting .463 as a team with 39 digs. No Wildcat posted more than six kills, as Molly Kamp (Stevensville, Mich./Lakeshore) and Erika Lange (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) tied for the team high.
Minnesota was led by Stephanie Hagen, who had 13 kills and hit .522 for the match. Setter Lindsey Berg had 42 assists.
Junior Kelli Meyer (Madison, Wis./Edgewood) led NU in assists with 14, while freshman starting setter Drew Robertson (Long Beach, Calif./Long Beach Poly) only had ten.
While blocking is usually a strong point for the 'Cats, they were held to five team blocks. As a team, NU hit .095 and committed nine receiving errors.
The Wildcats are on the road again next weekend, traveling to Penn State and Ohio State. Those matches are slated to begin at 6 p.m. CST.
