Women's Soccer Rolls Over Detroit, 6-2

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern scored four goals in the second half to break a 2-2 tie and take the win, 6-2, against Detroit in the in the second game of the Wildcat Classic Friday.
A new Northwestern record fell for quickest goal in a game, as Katie Hertz scored 37 seconds into the first half. Hertz led the Wildcats with two goals and an assist, and Aileen Guiney, Janelle Harwood, Kelli Wilson and Enyo Dzata each added a goal. Kristen Pearce had two assists while Harwood, Katie Kovatch, Brooke Bell and Jillian Trezza each had one. Erin Ekeberg recorded four saves in the Wildcat goal.
Northwestern outshot the Titans 19-7. Scoring for Detroit were Stacey Westbrook and Tanya Tiselj and gaining an assist was Sally Koop.
In Friday's first match, Montana defeated Minnesota, 3-1. The Gophers took a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute on a goal from Laurie Seidl, but the Grizzlies provided all the offense the rest of the way. Amy Wronski tied the match in the 36th minute, then gave the Grizzlies the lead with a breakaway goal in the 54th minute. Nikki Bolstad provided insurance seven minutes later with another breakaway goal.
Natalie Hiller had 12 saves for Montana, who were outshot by the Gophers 21-11. For Minnesota, Julie Eibensteiner had six stops.
The Wildcat Women's Soccer Classic continues Sunday, as Minnesota meets Detroit at 10 a.m., followed by Northwestern vs. Montana at noon.
