EVANSTON, Ill. -- After two overtime periods, the Northwestern women's soccer match ended in a 0-0 tie against Montana. The Wildcats, now 1-3-1 on the season, outshot the Grizzlies 23-13, in the hard fought battle.

Janelle Harwood and Katie Hertz led the way for the Wildcats, taking four shots each as Northwestern dominated the offensive end of the game. Brooke Bell, Kristen Pearce, Aileen Guiney and Enyo Dzata tacked on three goal attempts each for Northwestern. Goalkeeper Erin Ekeberg ended the game with five saves.

Leading the way for Montana was Shannon Forslund with four goal attempts. Goalkeeper Natalie Hiller had five saves. Montana is now 4-1-1 on the season.

In Sunday's first match, Detroit defeated Minnesota, 2-1. The Gophers took a 1-0 lead in the 68th minute when Alison Rackley took a pass from Rachael Roth to put Minnesota up 1-0. The Titans provided the offense the rest of the way as Jessica Herdzik tied the match for Detroit in the 70th minute with a head shot from a corner kick. The Titans then took the lead with a goal from Jenny Fejes in the 80th minute. Providing assists for Detroit were Tanya Tiselj and Gwen Kilfoy.

Erica Rust had five saves for Detroit, who were outshot by the Gophers 24-7. Detroit improves to 3-4 on the season, while Minnesota falls to 2-3.

In Friday's action of the Wildcat Classic, Northwestern defeated Detroit, 6-2, and Montana prevailed over Minnesota, 3-1.
