Women's Volleyball Falls to UC-Irvine, 3-1

EVANSTON, Ill. - Freshman Erika Lange (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sanburg) led all players with 19 kills, but Northwestern lost to UC Irvine, 3-1, Tuesday night. Northwestern won the first game 15-7 before falling in the last three, 12-15, 9-15, 9-15.
Senior Carmen Burbach (Columbus, Neb./Scotus Central Catholic) and freshman Lindsay Pavlik (Laguna Beach, Calif./Lincoln) both tallied 12 kills for the Wildcats.
Northwestern won the battle at the net, outblocking UCI 10-6.
Burbach, Pavlik and freshman Molly Kamp (Stevensville, Mich./Lakeshore) led all players in digs with 13 each. Sophomore Adriana Ruhl (Stockton, Calif./Lincoln) tallied 10.
The Anteaters were led by Larissa Carter, who recorded 18 kills and 10 digs.
The Wildcats fall to 0-4 on the season while the Anteaters are 1-0. Northwestern is in action this weekend at the Wahine Challange in Honolulu, Hawaii. They will play Creighton on Thursday night, followed by Oregon on Friday and then host Hawaii on Sunday.
