Women's Soccer Falls to Wisconsin, 2-0

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern women's soccer team lost to Wisconsin in conference action, 2-0, at Lakeside Field in Evanston, Ill.
The Badgers' Allison Wagner scored in the 25th minute to take the early lead. The Wildcats had a chance to tie the score at one apiece with a penalty kick from Brooke Bell (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton-Warrenville South) in the 37th minute, but Wisconsin goalkeeper Kelly Conway came up with a save to keep the lead intact. The Badgers then went right down the field, and Jenny Kundert scored to up the lead to 2-0.
The game remained scoreless in the second half. Despite outshooting the Badgers, 12-7, the Wildcats could not connect with a goal and suffered their third shutout of the year. Erin Ekeberg (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) had three saves on the day, while Katie Kovatch (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West) played a tough defensive game for the Wildcats.
Northwestern is now 2-5-1 on the season, 1-2 in the Big Ten. They are next in action Friday, September 29 at Illinois.
