EVANSTON, Ill. -- No. 12 Oregon State sent the Northwestern softball team to its fourth-straight defeat, 5-1, at the Hillenbrand Invitational in Tucson, Ariz. NU finished 1-4 in the tournament and stands at 6-11 on the season.
The Beavers jumped on the board early, scoring four runs in the first inning without the benefit of a hit. A hit batsman, three walks, two wild pitches and an error did the damage. For the game, NU outhit Oregon State, 7-3, and received great relief pitching from freshman Brie Brown (Nashville, Tenn./Harputh Hall), who hurled 4.2 shutout innings.
