Women's Soccer Loses to Illinois State, 1-0

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern women's soccer team lost to Illinois State on Sunday, 1-0, at Lakeside Field. Despite outshooting the Redbirds, 12-11, and attempting more cornerkicks, 10-2, the Wildcats suffered their sixth straight loss, five of which have been decided by one goal.
The Redbirds scored in the 32nd minute, when a pass from Tiffany DeClark was headed in by Annie Wayland just over the goalkeepers' hands. The Wildcats picked up the momentum in the second half, and with five minutes to go close shots by Molly Green (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) and Katie Hertz just missed the goal.
Katie Hertz (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) led the `Cats with five shots. Erin Ekeberg (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) tallied seven saves for the Wildcats, bringing her total to 77 in 12 matches.
The Wildcats fall to 2-9-1 on the season. They will face Ohio State and Penn State next Friday and Sunday, respectively, on Lakeside Field.
