Volleyball Team Falls to Notre Dame, 3-0

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Northwestern Volleyball team traveled to Notre Dame for the Shamrock Invitational Friday night, falling to the host Fighting Irish in the opening round in three games (15-8, 15-9, 15-8).
The Wildcats were held to less than .150 hitting percentage throughout the match. Junior outside hitter Carmen Burbach (Columbus, Neb./Scotus Central Catholic) had nine kills and 10 digs to lead the Wildcats.
?At times we play very competitively but not consistently,? said head coach Kevin Renshler. ?If we can sustain the competitiveness from point one to point 15, then we will win.?
The Fighting Irish were led by Kristy Kreher and Mary Leffers, who posted double figures in kills with 12 and 13, respectively.
The Wildcats are now 0-2 in non-conference play. The Shamrock Invitational resumes Saturday as the ?Cats take on Louisville at 4 p.m.
