Luke Donald Wins Third-Straight Individual Title

EVANSTON, Ill. - Sophomore Luke Donald (High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England) posted a final-round 69 to capture his third-straight tournament title, winning the Kepler Intercollegiate championship with a 54-hole total of even-par 216. The tournament was played at Ohio State's Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio. Donald finished five strokes ahead of his nearest competitors, Penn State's Matt Abbott and Illinois' D.A. Points.
The Wildcats, ranked 13th in the country, captured their second-straight team crown and the third in the last four tournaments. NU posted a team score of 899, eight strokes ahead of runner-up Wisconsin. Wildcat junior Jess Daley (Kent, Wash./Kentwood) also finished high on the leaderboard, tying for ninth place at 225.
Donald has now captured four individual crowns in his last five outings, also winning The Nelson (Oct. 31-Nov. 1), the Aldila Collegiate Classic (March 8-9) and the Dr. Pepper Intercollegiate (March 27-28). In addition, Donald has finished either first or second in seven of his nine events this season. The Wildcats, as a team, won the Aldila Collegiate Classic as well as last weekend's Marshall Invitational. NU has three tournament championships and four tournament runner-up finishes in 10 events this year.
Team and NU's individual results from the Kepler Intercollegiate appear below. Next up for the Wildcats will be the Wolverine Invitational, scheduled for May 7-9 in Ann Arbor, Mich.
