EVANSTON, Ill. - Head coach Pat Goss announced today the signing of Scott Harrington (Portland, Ore./Jesuit), a high school senior, to a National Letter of Intent to play golf for Northwestern.

"I think Scott is an extremely talented player," said Goss. "He will not only make an immediate impact on our team but will only improve over the next few years."

Harrington qualified for the 1998 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship and finished fourth in the 1998 Oregon Men's Amateur Stroke Play Championship. He represented Oregon as member of both the Junior Americas Cup and the Hogan Cup team last summer. In addition, Harrington led his high school to the 1998 4A state championship, finishing sixth individually. He chose Northwestern over Pepperdine, Oregon and Oregon State.
