EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern's Luke Donald won three of his four matches at the recently completed Palmer Cup. Donald, who represented Great Britain and Ireland in the matches versus the U.S. collegian team, faired better than his teammates. The Americans, which halved the match last year, won handily, 17 1/2 to 6 1/2. The Palmer Cup, which features the top eight U.S. collegians and their counterparts from GB & I in a Ryder Cup style format, was contested at the Honors Course in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Donald teamed with Phillip Rowe (Exeter) in the four ball match and bettered the team of Matt Kuchar (Ga. Tech) and Jeremy Anderson (UNLV) 4 and 3. In the alternate shot match, Donald and Max Harris (N.C.) beat Kuchar and Bryce Molder (Ga. Tech) 2 and 1. In match play, Donald won versus John Engler (Clemson), 3 and 2, but lost to Hank Kuehne (SMU), 3 and 2.
