
Wildcat Swim Teams Fall to Wisconsin

EVANSTON, Ill. - Both Northwestern swimming and diving squads dropped dual meets Thursday evening at Wisconsin. The 10th-ranked Northwestern women?s team fell to No. 15 Wisconsin, 126-96, while the men dropped a 136-101 decision. Both Wildcat squads even their season records at 1-1.
For the men, junior Steve Steketee (Golden, Colo.) continued his strong start by winning the 100- and 200-yard freestyle events in times of 46.65 and 1:40.77, respectively. Other individual winners for the Wildcats were senior Steve Harms (Maumee, Ohio) in the 500 free (4:38.56) and sophomore Elliot Massuda (Valparaiso, Ind.) who won the 3-meter diving competition.
Senior All-American Amy Balcerzak (Sharon, Pa) paced the women by winning the 200-yard breaststroke (2:17.39) and the 200 individual medley in a time of 2:04.89. Senior Dominique Diezi (Zurich, Switzerland) won the 50 free in 24.28, while freshman Susie Sample (LaGrange, Ill.) was victorious in the 200 back in 2:02.90.
Both squads return to action on Saturday, travelling to Minneapolis to face Minnesota at 7 p.m.
